If you open the door of your fridge and are met with a stale or “off” smell, it’s important to identify and remove the problem — straight away.
To clean the shelves, walls and door of your fridge, moisten a sponge with white vinegar and wipe away any food stains. The vinegar acts as a disinfectant and deodoriser, as well as leaving a shiny, streak-free surface.
If an unpleasant smell lingers, place a small bowl of vanilla essence on a low shelf. Alternatively, place an open packet of bicarb soda in the fridge. The bicarb soda will absorb bad odours for about three months.
